Great performing Notebook.
I received this Gateway 15.6 FHD Ultra Slim Notebook to replace an older Acer laptop.  The Acer was about 9 years old and had an older Intel Core i5 that was top of the line at the time of purchase, but was becoming more and more sluggish.  I don't know if it was because of all the apps, files and programs that have been loaded onto it over the years, or if it is just that it is becoming outdated, (such is life with technology).  The Gateway performs much faster.  It has a 10 Generation Core i5 processor.  It has 16GB of ram out of the box. The setup wizard was easy to navigate and is a painless process.  It will take you thru the process of setting up Cortana if you so choose, along with your logon credentials, which include a fingerprint logon.  It also allows you to pick a PIN in case it doesn't recognize your fingerprint for any reason.  It's always good to have a backup way to gain access in the event of an unlikely hiccup with biometrics.  It comes with Windows 10 Home edition.  The only tradeoff that I had to give up with this unit was that my old Acer had a 512GB hard drive and this Gateway has only a 256GB hard drive, but it is a SSD (Solid State Drive), so it is a much better technology than the Acer in that regard.  This doesn't bother my since there is usb 3.0 ports that I can connect mobile storage to if I need more storage space.  My daughter really appreciates the new Gateway, since the Acer was beginning to lag while she was playing Roblox.  It seems to run very well on this notebook.  It is bigger than I anticipated, given this has a 'notebook' label, and my Acer was considered a 'laptop'.  But it is very slim as far as thickness goes.  It came with Norton (Ultra I believe), but I opted to use a different antivirus and another antimalware program that I have used over the years.  Ultimately, I have no cons with this device. I really like the fingerprint scanner.  I have not yet researched if there is room to upgrade the RAM in this notebook, as I have a habit to max the RAM as soon as I get a new device, but given the performance so far, I see no need to do that at the present time.  It also comes with an onboard webcam, microphone and THX audio.  Along with the usual home use, we intend to use it for my daughters online school work.  I believe this is a great deal in this range of laptops/notebooks, and you would be far pressed to find a better deal at this price point that it lists for.

Hangs and needs to be reset several times a day
I bought it for work with photo editing and installed almost nothing, I basically use only photoshop and Lightroom and even then the computer freezes and doesn't accept any commands! fruating experience, I believed I was getting a fast and good quality computer, I was wrong!

Screen stopped working after a year, waste of $$$
The laptop worked pretty well for a year but then the screen stopped working. I contacted Gateway support and they said it would cost between $100 and $350 to repair, which doesn't seem worth it. I will not be buying a Gateway laptop ever again and would recommend you do not either.

    Total junk!
I give this one star just because it has a nice green color. The computer is a piece of JUNK. I bought it in July 2021. Didn't use it until late August for nursing school. It has been sent back 3 times in less than 6 months to get repaired. After two weeks the whole computer froze/ motherboard was broken. Second time I got the blue screen of death this was after about 2 months of having it back. Last week half the keys on my keyboard stopped working. I have used the loaner computer from my school more than this computer I purchased. Total waste of money and I am telling everyone I can not to purchase this computer. My nursing friends even joke when it comes back how long it will be until I have to return it again. Don't waste your money on this product.

Good machine for the price - Horrible support.
Decent machine for the money but suspect build quality and support is horrible. I had ordered two of these machines back in July. One has a failed keyboard and I have been going back and forth with Gateway support and still do not have and RMA. I have dealt with a lot of tech support over the years and this could be the worst. Even the automated "answer bot" is unresponsive - stuck on "contacting an agent" for over 30min without any ETA.

    Economical but won't last long
Very economical but worst mouse track pad ive ever used. And within three months of usage by high school student, its R and D keys have stopped responding with soft touch.

    Crap machine.
DId not even make a 10 months and I have to replace. Bad speakers from the get-go if you want to watch a video without headsets. Then the keyboaard started ghost typing and now it is rejecting every bluetooth replacement keyboard I try!

Good basic and great performance computer
This is a good computer for my needs, I am old and retired, basic computer is all I need, and the screen size is good for my old eyes, I have an external usb hd so the 256 gb supplied drive is ok for me. All in all I am very pleased with the performance of this computer, and for the price, I highly recommend it. I got the green color one.

    Didn't Setup correctly
Couldn't get this to set-up with numerous trys. The screen said it was working on it but never past that screen after 12 hours. Looks like a very nice computer but looks don't mean anything if it doesn't set up correctly.

    Meh, it'll do.
What a beautiful color! Great size, and best specs for the price right now (which is what attracted me). I previously had an HP Notebook for 10 years. Cons I have so far with it: -The speakers SUCK but when you have headphones plugged in the audio is GREAT! For being "Tuned by THX" I expected both to be pretty stellar. -I have a permanent darker dot on my webcam, no cleaning will make it go away and it exists in multiple application usage. -My mouse can sometimes just run away while I'm using it down to the edges of the screens. My mistake that I didn't see it also didn't have a CD insert but I should have figured as all laptops seem to be going that way. In all, it seems to be okay for the time being until upgrading to a desktop for myself in a few years hopefully so could definitely use for surfing the internet etc use.

Memory failure right out of box....
Walmart order and delivery process very smooth, but right out of the box, the laptop did not complete Window registration and entered the Blue Screen - Stop Code: Memory Management Finally, get it into Safe Mode and run Memory Diagnosis under Window's Administrative Tools, it came back with "Hardware problems were detected". Windows finally loaded, but a few days later we run the Diagnostics again, still the same message. We decide to return this laptop to the Store, and buy a new one if Walmart still has it. Our boy was pretty upset, it was for him and he had to wait for another two weeks I guess.

    Not worthy
The laptop was fine except for webcam which is really bad. Also, after a month the touchpad and fingerprint scan did not work anymore and there is no warranty to fix it. Fixing it costs as much as the laptop. I would rather spend a little bit more for a laptop that is much more reliable as well as covered by at least the limited warranty. Bad purchase decision

    Flimsy laptop, would not recommend.
The laptop arrived with dead batteries. After charge, I attempt to turn it on and power button works 1 out 10 trials. The only thing I liked is the fingerprint feature and 16gb ram. I returned the laptop.

I really like the green laptop. Internet is much faster on this one compared to my old laptop that died. I don't have headphones, so I just use the laptop speaker which does not seem to be as loud as my previous laptop. Maybe I will buy headphones to improve sound. So far, I am very happy with this purchase.

    TouchPad useless after Windows Update
Ok, from the beginning everything looks fine, ultra thin laptop very nice. Not a big fan of the touchpad that you can click anywhere but works for some months. After a regular update of windows the touchpad became unresponsive. I tried in different ways to update the driver, uninstall, read forums, everything but nothing works. So now I have to carry a mouse with me because the touchpad doesn't works at all. The funny part, I tried to contact Gateway and nobody replies to me. Called the number on the webpage and ACER support pick up and they provided to me a dead phone number for Gateway support. I'll try to return this brick to buy the regular brands with full support. Now I'm filling like I went to buy my laptop in the black market (No support at all)

Works great for office work and School work
I am quite impressed with this little thing. Well it's not so little, 15.6 is perfect for what I need it for. I am a freelance Instructional Designer and it was time to upgrade my equipment. I chose this one because of the larger RAM and i5 core and I have been very happy with it. It didn't hurt that it was a beautiful green color (it matches my phone case). I named the computer Grogu because it's got that "yoda" color to it. Not sure what the name of their species is yet. Anyhoo, I have been running Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline on this thing for weeks and it has done wonderfully!! The sound is so so, that's my only complaint. It sounds like its in a box that's under about a foot of water. (I don't recommend putting it in water!). Keys on the keyboard are on the larger size, which I also enjoy. So yeah, great computer! I am glad Gateway is making a come back! Oh, and the camera is great quality too! I've used the heck out of that lately (2020, am I right!)

Trouble with the processor on the 31st day
I was happy to get this computer. I loved the green color (my favorite color). As soon as the 30 days elapsed (on the 31st day) the computer fan remains on and it has lots of static. I cannot hear my Goggle meetings. I have been given the runaround. I see why Gateway went away; it needs to go away again, and stay away forever! I am so disappointed in this product. I should have just gotten the Dell I was thinking about.

    Nice Notebook!
I really wanted this item because I needed a new computer for college. I'm a 33 year old returning to school and it's been years since I've had a new one. My first impression of this notebook was that it was gorgeous right out the box! Even though I really wanted the blue one I got the green and it's such a pretty color. The keyboard seems large, which I like and the screen has less margins which make it appear bigger to me. The colors on HD screen were so vibrant. I can't wait to watch a movie or play a game on here (after work and school of course). It was super easy to setup and moved pretty fast compared to my old laptop. The only thing I dislike so far is that there's no cd-rom drive because I actually used mine still but that's not a super big deal because I can still utilize my older laptop for that. I guess that's just something I personally have to get used to.

Gateway is back and I am impressed!
This Gateway 15.6 FHD Ultra Slim Notebook, Intel Core i5-1035G1, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD laptop is amazing. I could not be anymore happier with it. Super smooth interface, fantastic speed and video quality is superb I have not had any buffering at all. The screen size is perfect and I am really loving this dark green color very sleek and modern looking. I like that you can set a fingerprint log in for extra security. There are several different ports on this laptop. One for hdmi, one for a headset, a type c port as well as 2 usb ports and an sd card port. I have gone through many laptops over the years from different brands and I will say straight out the box this one is far better than the rest. Lots of storage space, fast browsing and crystal clear sound , you really cannot beat this laptop. I am very pleased and so happy to see Gateway back in action.
