Exactly as described
This shelving unit is exactly as it appears in the photos. It's nice and stable, and it was easy to put together. The quality is comparable to a more expensive —but nearly identical—unit I bought elsewhere.

still waiting to use!
I ordered and PAYED for this shelving unit on Sept, 29, 2016, when I went to put the shelving unit together there was a post missing and one very bent. I contacted the EDSAL COMPANY on October 17 at 9:48 in the morning, left a message about the missing post and bent post, they called me back at 1:13 to get the model and part number. It is now October 27th, and am still waiting to put my shelves together...........NO POSTS HAVE ARRIVED! The PO# was 1406484760. The shelves appear to be very sturdy, just realllly would like to have my "JUNK" out of my living room and on the shelves in the store room. VERY DISSAPOINTED IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THE EDSAL COMPANY.

    Sturdy, but didn't like particle board shelves
    Sturdy once we got it put together, but it definitely takes two, and is a little wonky until it is all together. Did not like the particle board shelves, but this was the only 3-ft shelving unit of this construction I could find. Had already begun to crumble at the corners. I covered the boards in a heavy black adhesive shelf liner, which helps to protect them and looks tons better.

    Cheap Material
    Delivery was horrible, including the box being too small & not sturdy enough for the weight. Side rail was bent, compromising the integrity of the unit. Chipboard for shelves!

    Poorly Designed
    The bottom half and top half do not properly secure to one another. The whole design hinges on the thin edges of the vertical L beams balancing on one another. Like balancing two quarters on their spine. If those are non balanced on each other then your top portion of the shelf will likely collapse.

    DIFFICULT TO INSTALL
    I have other shelving units by Edsal and love them. This particular one was extremely difficult to put together. I would not advise it for anyone. Frustrating! Over 6 hours to put together! It should be very simple to put together as far as the design goes, but it' not the best. Once it was together, it's a great shelving unit. Not the most sturdy, but it does the job for my paint can storage, garden tools, etc.

    Excellent value for the price
    Fits perfectly in the restricted area I was dealing with and is capable of carrying the weight of these extremely large metal models. Well over 200 pounds on the four shelves currently being used. I would definitely buy another if needed.

    Decent shelving for the money
    I like the shelving but the particle board shelves are bare wood. You can paint them which I did to keep moisture out of the wood which will affect the shelves intrigity. I purchased shelving similar to this before and the shelves were dipped and sealed which I loved, thus this shelving only gets 4 stars

    Overall, good product for tight spaces
    The purpose of my purchase was to add storage in our laundry room, which would fit on a 40" wall. We received the package early and intact and promptly assembled the shelving system. Overall, I was very pleased with the product and gave this product an 'above average' rating - but not an 'outstanding' grade. I wanted this product to fit on the short wall, sturdy and heavy duty (like the product's description), easy to install, and solid shelving (not mesh). In regards to cost, I did not want to pay more than $70 because the unit was smaller than industrial strength shelving systems. Assembling the system was the only issue; the middle section assembly was a pain in the butt, due to the fact that, at this point of the process, the system was very wobbly and unstable. This is unlike other heavy-duty shelving systems. If you are anticipating an industrial-strength shelving system, you will be disappointed. To conclude, this product met my needs when assembled - but did not exceed in of itself. I gave an 'above average' grade because of Sam's Club prompt delivery at a reasonable price.

    Good utility shelving
    Good buy for the money. Fairly easy assembly but putting the second tier on requires some patience and attention to the alighnment of the posts to make sure that upper posts don't overlap. One shelf was damaged but contacting Customer Service resolved issue and a replacement is being sent. Shelves will absorb liquids so I gave them 2 coats of eurathane on one side before using the shelving.
