$99 is a good price
Got this delivered on 12/2 and easily transferred my Straight Talk service from a comparable phone, same strong 4G LTE signal strenghth and I am happy. There are no 5G towers in my area to utilize that technology. In the box there is a booklet with detailed information on the hardware and software, really useful information to have. The best and worst feature of this device are the loud dual speakers that are nice, HOWEVER, there is no way to turn-off the power-up TCL sound. All other sounds are controllable except startup sounds: how odd. Lets move on. There are 4gb of RAM but 2.5gb are used all the time. And the rear fingerprint scanner is fast and accurate, centered on the plastic rear panel that is a matte finish that hides fingerprints very well. Underneath the nonremovable cover is the 4500 mAh fast-charging battery. So at this point you see what $99 gets you and that is an excellent price, even $129 is worth it. The display is bright, clear, and beautiful, easily handles video playback and included games. I am not a game enthusiast so I can't comment on anything but Solitaire. There is a physical button in the left side of the case that would launch Googles Assistant but I deleted that app and the button can't be repurposed unfortunately. As a phone its good, as an Internet/Facebook brower its good. This phone is not an upgrade for me and I wish I didn't have to buy this. My reason was my hotspot quit working on my fancier $200 phone and this $99 device. I can recommend this device. --FiveO

    Its useless
I hate this phone. You can't hear the ringer even if it's turned all the way up and it keeps dimming the phone all by itself . Alarm doesn't ring loud either. Wifi keeps shutting off

    Decent phone, does flake occasionally
If i had paid full price for the phone, I would not have been happy, but I got it for $99 at christmas time. Text messages do not properly order or date. You can get a message notification, then open messages and that message is not at the top. Or send one, and that message not be at the top. This after still employing the internet help items on the issue. I had to close the program and reopen it to make it order the new message. Then it really flaked out, sending messages forever even though the message was already through to the other phone. Final solution, stop using google messages (which i had updated several times ) and used Signal as the SMS default texting program. Also, Android version 11 changed where the volume button only turns down media, so to silence or vibrate your phone you have to do the pulldown menu you use for wifi, bluetooth, flashlight etc and there is a vibrate / silence toggle button on it. The phone is noticeably heavier than my wife's similar size Samsung. Samsung.

Watch what you buy and if 3rd party stay away.
Make sure you buy it off Walmart not a 3rd party through them. Buy at the store instead. 3rd parties do not have a pos to activate the phone. No good if not activated. Will never happen again. Got my money back but I needed my phone.

Not worth any amount of money
This phone has had too many technical issues from the start. I do not recommend this phone to anyone. In fact, I recommend steering clear of this phone altogether.

Good value for mid priced phone
Bought this on black Friday for $99. I usually keep phones for a couple of years and I buy phones in the $50 to $80 range. I was due for an upgrade so I bought the TCL 4X. This phone runs fast compared to the cheaper phones I buy. I was not interested in the larger size screen because I carry my phone in my front pocket. This one fits without bending. I make less than 3 calls a week on a phone. This one was setup for WiFi calling at first and I had some calls from home that seemed to skip in and out. I disabled the WiFi calling and haven't noticed it anymore. I don't spend all day sending text messages. I may send 5 messages per week. The messaging that I have done works fine. I do send about 10 or so facebook messages per day. This app works fine. I do not scroll on facebook but a few minutes per week. I browse with Chrome during breaks and lunch at work. Otherwise, the phone just sits. My area only has 4G available but I have used it with 5G once and it seemed a little faster. Camera takes large sized photos. Battery life for my use is great. It can go 3 or more days between charges. For me this phone has been very good. Someone who spends more time looking at a screen than experiencing life may not like it as much.
