Nerf Modulus Demolisher/ Ultimate Customizer Pack
My ProChrono Digital chronograph measured the speed of the darts fired by the stock Nerf Modulus Demolisher blaster at an average of 70 feet per second (FPS) using Nerf Elite darts (it is capable of shooting any standard Nerf Elite darts; blue, green, white, orange, purple/grey, Starwars themed, Accustrike, and decorated Rebelle darts). This is the standard average velocity for a Nerf Elite blaster, and the pack comes with 40 Nerf Elite darts and 4 Mega Missiles. It requires 4x AA alkaline batteries, not included. The Demolisher has a “noob-toob” missile/grenade launcher utilizing a HAMP (High Airflow Manual Plunger) system incorporated into the blaster. The HAMP is hand-activated so you need to slam down the pump action handle to shoot the Nerf Mega missile further, but this slamming action makes aiming the missile difficult without practice. The Demolisher has 2 tactical rails: 1 on the right and 1 one just above the barrel. It is on the loud side during operation. The defects it had since it's introduction in 2014 has been fixed because I sense no such issues with this Modulus version. The ergonomics are okay but the pistol grip is a bit smallish for such a bulky blaster. There are 4 sling-mount attachment points: 1 under the pistol grip, 2 by the front barrel, and 1 small one under the shoulder stock attachment. This shoulder stock is quite possibly the best shoulder stock Nerf has ever made, and this is not an exaggeration. It has a few different points of adjustability: the adjustable shaft has 2 lengths, the cheek-rest has 2, and the butt of the gun has 4. If that wasn't enough, it also has it's own tactical rail on the right side. The front barrel attachment adds 3 tactical rails for it's host blaster: 1 on top, 1 on the right side, and 1 on the bottom. The original Demolisher came with a 10-dart “banana” style magazine. This pack comes with 2 of them. They also fit into the side-mounted magazine-holder attachment, so it holds a spare magazine for a quick reload. You can use 1 attachment to add 3 using the triple tactical rail adaptor; a new and innovative idea to add more attachments from one tactical rail position. There are 2 reprints of old attachments in this pack: a flashlight attachment that needs 3x AAA alkaline batteries (again, not included), and although it makes a poor flashlight, it does make a cool prop. The other is an old flip-up iron-sight/ leaf-sight that came with the LongStrike. When flipped down it is a regular iron sight, when flipped up it becomes a leaf-sight. I suppose it is fitting to use this with the Demolisher since the leaf-sight is better-suited to gauge trajectory for projectile launchers in real world applications. Lastly, there is a Mega-Missile rack turret that holds 3 Mega Missiles and can rotate to 4 different positions, but I feel that it spins a bit to easily. Actually, with all of the numerous attachments on the blaster, it may be too heavy for smaller users. This is something to consider if this is a gift for a child with a smaller body. In conclusion, this repaint/reprint brought back a great blaster, and with it came an assortment of terrific attachments with fresh ideas that are useful and pleasing to me. It is a move that stokes the flames of nostalgia while bringing forth innovative and fundamentally thought-out equipment. I think Hasbro and Nerf will benefit greatly from offering this mix of new and returning merchandise to both their new and returning customers.

Hmmm... Think Hard Before You Buy This One
I'm a bit surprised to see this Nerf gun has nearly all 5 star reviews. I bought it because it looked awesome and I figured being $65, it would be a bit better in operation than some of the less expensive autos I have used from Nerf. The Good: Lots of attachments and they are pretty cool. The telescoping stock with the adjustable cheek rest and extension pad is my favorite. The barrel and banana clips are cool too. The overall feel of the gun is pretty nice as well and it shoots well...when it wants to. Now the Bad: I had to take the barrel apart right from the box because the orange insert connector piece was installed incorrectly and I couldn't connect it to the gun. However, after I reset it, it connected just fine. The other issue I had was the extra mag holder kept popping off the gun. The orange connectors that attach to a rail were just too weak to hold the mag onto the gun. The missiles are cool and really launch hard and fast but the pump just slides out on you. There's nothing holding it in place except gravity so although the missile launcher is cool, it's just too loose for me. The missile holder is also pretty clumsy when attached to the gun. It'll rotate very easily on you and just gets in the way. Everything else is pretty good. The MAJOR Bad I had was that the gun jams too often. I would rather have a $65 gun that didn't jam and with less attachments than a $65 gun with a lot of attachments but suffers from too much jamming. I would suggest passing on this one or wait for a price drop to around $40... just be prepared to fix quite a few dart jams.
