I would give this unit high stars (4), but my husband would give it no stars, (0), so we are averaging our reviews. My husband suffers with sciatica and compressed discs, we had hoped this would help alleviate some of his discomfort. However, he has a slender build and all of his vertebrae are “visible”, so he found it very uncomfortable, without anything between the unit and his back. Once we cushioned it, as suggested, it was only less uncomfortable. Now, I have a bit of a sway back, am stocky, about 10 lbs overweight, and just suffer from general backaches. It doesn't vibrate, it is deep kneading, and I could feel that on either side of my spine, it “hurt so good”, like a nerve shock at first, then it was much more relaxing. Midway up my back, I could feel a hard part hit my vertebrae, it moved quickly past, but it felt a lot better after cushioning it. I was disappointed that it didn't reach my upper back, below my neck, but where it does reach, it helped me. After using it for about 10 minutes, then getting up, my back popped! We have to remove it from our recliner after use, because the moving parts bulge out, at the mid-bottom of the back, making it very uncomfortable to sit against when not in use.

    This massage cushion works really well and mostly feels great. i'm a very thin person and am a bit bony, so when it's massaging it occasionally hits a spot that hurts a little. My husband who is much more padded than i am, loves it The remote/controls are connected to the side of the cushion and are very easy to use. The massage function has 3 different programs. One for upper back, one for lower back and one for the full back. The heat option is really nice, but i wish it also had different intensities. It is just an on/off button with one heat setting. Still very nice combined with the massage, but i prefer more heat. The cushion has velcro straps to help secure it in place. The cover is not removable/washable. The directions just say spot clean, so you may want to get a washable cover for it. It's a little big/bulky but pretty lightweight, so it's easy for one person to move/adjust it. Overall good product, everyone in my household has been fighting to use it since we took it out of the box. Very relaxing after a tense day.

    Easy to use and effective chair massage
    This chair cushion massager is very effective and easy to use. It plugs in and has 3 simple buttons for on, off, and on with heat. It provides a good back massage starting very low above the hips and moving up to shoulders. If you are 6' it will go all the way up to your shoulder height along the spine. If you are shorter, I'm 5'7” then it will go above where you need it but only for a few seconds. I have been using this with the heat in the evening after work and while I was sick with flu. It really helped the back while I was ill.

    Such a Great and Relaxing Massager
    I work very hard most days, and sometimes I just need to unwind and relax after a busy day. This massager works wonders for my sometimes back pain due to always being on the move. It fit my gaming cg chair perfectly, and the heat feature instantly warms up, which is so great. It is so comfortable and feels like a pillow. What is great for me also is it is a 2 prong plug which is wonderful because my place consists of mostly 2 prong outlets

    Nice looking cushion. It's a neutral tan color. It's fairly quiet. The cord is 79" and has a velcro strap for shortening. It can be set to massage your entire back or just the top or bottom. Works best in an upright chair. My desk chair slopes therefore my back doesn't press up to the cushion well. Works fine in my lazy boy however the straps don't go all the way around the back of the chair to secure. But that is not a problem while I'm using it. The temperature gets warm, not too hot. Probably wouldn't work well with a heavy sweatshirt. The manual says not to operate it under a blanket or pillow. The side control is somewhat awkward. You really have to twist around to use it. On the other hand you don't have to worry about losing a remote control. The manual recommends not using it for longer than 15 minutes at a time. The life of the cushion may be shortened if it is overheated. Fifteen minutes is plenty long enough for me but might not be for some people. Overall I would recommend.

    With this HoMedics Shiatsu Massage Cushion, roller balls move up and down along the back in a circular motion and push deeply into back muscles. I love how the rollers slowly inch all the way up the back to almost the shoulders and then inch slowly back down again. This thing does knead into the back very strongly. In some spots of my back it feels amazing while in other parts I do have to sit up some as it gets too hard for my likes. But the cushion is smartly designed with 3 zones to target your full back, upper back, or just your lower back so you can personalize it for whatever way best meets your needs. It is nice on the full back function that the massaging covers such a wide area of the back, both from side to side and top to bottom. The cushion fit perfectly in my existing office chair without any necessary modifications. It stays securely in place with the two included Velcro straps found attached towards the top and bottom of the cushion. A bottom flap cushion that you sit on further adds to helping it stay in place while in use. It is convenient that the controller is sewn into the side of the cushion towards the bottom. No fidgeting is required searching for a missing remote or trying to trace down the power cord to a controller. The heating function is nice and does provide some soothing, but that part was barely noticeable; II would have like to have had even more warmth. But it is also nice that it can be used with or without heat, again offering a personalized experience that best meets your needs. When not in use, it is not ideal to leave the cushion in the chair as it digs into your back, so it is inconvenient to remove it from the chair when not in use and store it away somewhere.

    Full back massage
    This is a great massage cushion. I am pregnant with twins and oh my goodness this cushion helps so much with my lower back pain. I am six feet tall and this cushion fits the entire length of my back. I love the different settings. I would suggest this to anyone needing great deep tissue massage at home or anywhere an outlet is accessible. It's also lightweight and easy to move around. I use it while sitting in my couch but it will work for any chair.

    Well made but rough
    I am reviewing the HoMedics Shiatsu Massage Cushion with Heat for Full, Upper, and Lower Back, Deep Kneading Massager, Fits Most Chairs for Home or Office Use, Custom Comfort with 3 Massage Zones Like the title, it tells you it has three massage zones. It goes straight up down the middle of your back. I would have liked it to go up a little higher on my neck. This gets the job done and seems like it well made and it gonna last. I received this product for free in exchange for my Honest review.

    This thing is amazing. I've tried other massage machines before but they were hand held and difficult to use. Not this one though very simple. I love the 3 different modes and the option for heat. Works great in my office chair but not so much in my recliner because of the curved back

    Life changer-Sleep, walk and feel better
    The Homedics Shiatsu Massage Cushion + Heat, Deep Kneading Massager has three programs. It offers three modes of deep , circular massage. One is for lower back, one is for full back and one is for upper back. These programs all run for 15 minutes and then automatically shut off. There is also the option of HEAT. If heat is selected, the bottom control button will light up red and red circles will move on the cushion. There are three buttons on the control panel. One is on/off. One is for the mode/ program selection and one is for the option of HEAT. There are two straps (see picture) to secure the cushion to virtually any chair. You may not need them both, but there are two available. I found that using one was sufficient for the chair I have it secured on. When it arrives take the BACK SCREW off with the 'wrench' that comes with it in a small attached bag. Then TOSS THE SCREW out. Don't put it back in. Plug the cushion in and you are ready to relax. It is as simple as that. This is absolute heaven. It is versatile. You can adjust the massage by how you sit in the chair. I found that I can even get a 'head rub' if I lean back. I also put a few books on the seat cushion to lift me up so I can focus on an even lower back area. The lower back setting goes from the waist down to the bottom of the spine. The upper back focuses on the shoulder blades. And then there is the overall back massage setting. Because it is a 'deep kneader' when you are done, you feel like someone has actually gone over your back and worked out the knots in the muscles. The kneading so deep that I had to sit away a little at certain points. Why? I didn't realize how stiff the muscles in my back were till the deep kneading hit certain tense areas. I had pulled a muscle in my back and didn't realize how much stress the whole back had absorbed till the massager began working out the knots. Now, I am moving better and feeling better. I even sleep better with less pain. I like that there is little effort I have to put out to enjoy it. I can sit down at any time and with a press of a button enjoy this. Also, I like that it is quiet. There is little if any noise, and the automatic turn off is a plus because if you are called away for any reason, it will shut off by itself. It is lightweight and very easy to carry from chair to chair and it folds down so it is easy to store. The bottom cushion lifts up so you can keep the pets from sitting on it. For a job from home, sitting for hours, this is a great way to take the pressure off. I would definitely recommend this for health, relaxation and well being of mind and emotion. It is a nice way to tell yourself 'thanks for all the hard work'.
