Planning to purchase two more!
The rain that we catch will be used to water our flower and vegetable garden by attaching a sprinkler hose and routing the rainwater to the needed places. In our area of the U.S. we endure drought conditions and water is needed for use other than gardens, etc. Our Rain Barrel will be our source of extra water for such.

SHORTLIVED
We bought this rain barrel 3 years ago. The flat back does not have the integrity to support the water weight. It flexed out and cracked 2" from the bottom with a 5" crack across the back at 3 yrs old, (Not due to a freeze) Very disappointing longevity for the price. I would not recommend this style of rain barrel.

3.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser05/04/2022Not the best but it will have to doMisaligned drilled holes keeps 1 spinning wheel slightly off on the base and thus difficult to turn the barrel and the holes on the side are just a bit too large and let's flies in. It appears someone just rushed through drilling holes for the wheels and sides at a rapid pace without paying a attention. A rain barrel i purchased from Sam's also had quality issues and was from the same company this compost barrel is from.Echo76

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/15/2020Awful product. Bad design.Terrible product. Would give negative stars if I could. The metal spigot has to be screwed into the plastic threading which is a terrible design. I followed the directions exactly and the first time I tried screwing it in the plastic threading stripped and made the product worthless.ERIC

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser05/29/2018What a smart purchase for your home! This is my second 50 gallon plastic rain wizard flat back rain barrel that I've purchased from hayneedle. Our water bill is expensive enough without factoring in watering the lawn or watering the flowers. I have my first barrel placed under a garage gutter downspout and my second is place under one of the house's gutter downspout. It is so easy to install! It fills up with just one hard rain and I have water for the garden for weeks! I saved so much money last year that I decided to buy a second so I can save even more and so that the one area of my lawn that floods where the down spout is can dry out better. You will not regret this purchase!Shawn

2.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/19/2014It's the little thingsReceived four of these barrels, however, one barrel was a different model, arg! Still waiting to hear back from customer service on how to get the correct barrel. If you look at all the various pictures of this rain barrel, you will see the top screen held down by four to eight screws. I received one with eight screws, the others with four screws. I redistributed the screws holding down the screen from the primary barrel since I used a 4"" round downspout connector. As you can see in pictures on this website with just four screws, the screen is puckered up and not laying flat like in pictures with eight screws. It looks like a large opening covered by screen, but it's only a 4 inch circle hole, centered near the back edge, the rest of the screen is just overlap, see pictures of my setup. The overflow hole screen picture shows four screws, mine only had two screws causing the ends to pucker out and look shabby. The top screen does not have uniform holes, it looks like half the punch was dull and did not fully perforate the material, and they are too small. The inside diameter of the overflow connectors are too small and should be larger in diameter to match the flow of downspout, like 3/4 or 1 inch inside diameter. To connect multiple barrels, you will need 3/4 inch inside diameter hose, I got some at Home Depot. Remember to stair step your barrels so the overflow will work better. That way the water will cascade down from higher elevated barrel to lower barrel. If you connect multiple barrels, they won't sit flush against your wall because the connector hoses, even cut to the shortest length, stick out from behind the barrel, so need an inch or so, offset from the wall. I'm glad I bought these on sale. They do look nice and the threads for the spigot are deep enough so they don't strip when screwing in metal on plastic threads.Amanda W

3.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser08/25/2009Gets the job done.It works fine. However, the spicket is set up high, which leaves unused water in the bottom. I wish there was a drain so I could get it out, without having to clean it. Also the screen could be tighter, to keep in/out mosquitos. I like the color and style. It looks great in our front yard.MJ

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser03/31/2009A great product! This rain barrel is an excellent choice for the environmentally conscious gardener. It effectively and safely captures and stores rain water for garden use. I have mine installed under a down pipe from the house roof with a short hose attached to the very nice brass faucet. When installing the rain barrel try to place on a level surface and think about where the overflow will fall, because in heavy rain it can be quite forceful. The wire grid covering the intake captures debris and insects and prevents wildlife falling in and becoming trapped, it also keeps the water quite clean. The grid needs a wipe off after a heavy rain. I really like that this barrel is made from recycled materials, and it is very sturdy and should weather well. There is a linking system available for this barrel so others can be attached increasing the capacity and this will be my next garden project. I am really happy with this product and highly recommend it.Carver
