This controller is a good standalone unit at this price point. It would be great if the display could be unified to allow direct waveform comparisons or, even better, superimposed. It also needs a sync function or beat assist function to be closer to the Stanton SCS-4DJ.

First thing I noticed: It has audio outputs! It also has a power supply, headphone jack, microphone jack and a booth output. This is exactly what I have been looking for. It does everything I want and then some, one nice feature is it will read both tracks from a thumb drive, no laptop necessary.

I have 23 years of experience as a professional DJ for nightclubs and events. I now own my own internet radio station, www.DEEPSOULRADIO.com. I have owned the PS 525, and the BPM 250 Gemini mixers. I am still looking for a CS-19R. Please understand that I have always loved the Gemini brand and am still on the lookout for a CS-19R. There were a few issues that I found, which I hope you will fix soon, hopefully with the next firmware upgrade. Some issues are personal preference. I will try my best to be objective in my review. The Good (after FW Update): * The CUE buttons became responsive and quick. * The HOTCUEs buttons are quick and responsive. * LOOP is 99% seamless. The headphones still make tiny "artifacts" audible. * LOOP editing is simple 80% of time (SEARCH must be disabled, this is not explained by the OM).* Smooth transition between top USB devices and bottom USB devices (Also NOT explained in the OM).* -WAVE+ function can be understood and very useful. * The LED VU meters are brightly lit and highly accurate. * For quick distinction, use the traditional Red CUE or Green PLAY/PAUSE buttons. (I find the Traktor Blue CUE and Pioneer Orange buttons terrible.)* GMX still remembers HOTCUEs once USB has been removed. * No SYNC (love it). * The headphones could be louder but they are good enough to use in a home studio. * The HOTCUEs are placed above the JOG WHEEL. The Bad: * Plasticky feel. This unit is not expensive, but there are other options. * The pitch faders are too short. Mixing with GMX is best done by ear. * SCRATCH and SEARCH are too close to PITCH faders. Buttons should not be placed in the middle of the screen. * Poor documentation. Examples were shown throughout the review. * Where is the VCAS software? The Fixable (hopefully in next FW update:* RELOOP is choppy. Can't re-enter loop seamlessly. Audible hiccup. * Headphone mix bleeds into deck not selected by PFL button * Crossfader is too abrupt to mix smoothly. Next track doesn't come in slowly. * Crossfader is too subtle to be scratched. Decide for yourself. * Song titles do not scroll. (You want to ensure you play the correct mix)* A deck is stopped and a tiny digital noise is heard. To delete a loop, a track must be stopped. This is not a major issue, but it is not explained in the OM. Tracks are listed alphabetically rather than by track #. Smart DJs prepare their music in advance, so we don't sort alphabetically. * GMX doesn't remember the last state or BPM MODE setting. This setting is lost if the USB drive is removed. Preparation work is wasted. * GMX doesn't remember the last state of TIME MODE (RT/ET). This setting is lost if the USB flash drive is deleted. * GMX loses the exact location of loops that were previously created. This setting is lost if the USB flash drive is deleted. * JOG WHEEL is sensitive to nudging. A small push or pull can end up being too much, ruining a mix. JOG WHEEL is too sensitive when moving tracks to adjust the CUE, LOOP IN or LOOP OUT points. The JOG WHEEL is too sensitive and the "now time", which is used to adjust the CUE, LOOP IN, or LOOP OUT points, jumps around. This makes it difficult to adjust. Filters stop working between 9 and 3 o’clock. However, knobs still travel between 7 and 5 o’clock. * The headphones can be noisy when switching between MIDI and USB modes. Will the audience hear this? * GMX can write multiple entries to the.sqlite file for a single track! This issue is easily fixed and should be addressed in the FW update. Why bother with XLR connectors BOOTH OUT, MIC IN, and BOOTH OUT? Without an external mixer, the GMX was impossible to use. I still need to connect party-goers phones, iPods, and/or multiple microphones into my sound system. I would trade in XLRs BOOTH OUT, MIC IN, and XLRs for longer pitch faders. Smooth mixing is possible with 100mm faders (ex. Pioneer CDJs, Technics SL1200). The original GMX PRO prototype was a great idea. I hope the future "MK2 versions" of this device will include some of my suggestions. I would pay $100 more for a metal chassis with 100mm pitch faders.

Mixer is a little bit difficult to use, but it's not too difficult! After hooking it up, it was only ten minutes at a time. I was very upset that it had to be purchased online. It's an amazing machine! It's amazing! My son has done amazing things with it! !
