Does anyone in cust serv actually read these...?
K...it works "okay". if you don't need the remote. I bought it during a heat wave in Fresno. Used it sporadically until the HEAT came. We're not quite Phoenix, but we're very close. Didn't need the remote until recently. My remote wasted 3 sets (6 batteries) over the span of about 36 hours. Try reaching the company 5o get any assi They say this unit will cool a 22x25 room.

    heat function not working properly
AC function works well, but heater function not working properly. The internal thermostat seems to be broken. I have a separate thermometer to check the room temperature, and when I set the B&D unit to a certain temperature above the current room temp, the unit doesn't start blowing hot air until I set the temp at least 8 degrees above the current temp. Also, don't even attempt to call the B&D help line. You'll be on hold forever (literally), no call back when I once had the opportunity to leave a voicemail. And their support website no longer exists. Unreal.

As long as it works, it's great.
It worked will for Summer, (May is when it came), and it helped with the high humidity. But for winter, it is GREAT. We always had high humidity in the winter. But last year, (2019), it got so bad, (80%), gray mold started growing so bad we had to clean all the rooms and closets. What a chore. But know it's (humidity) down below normal level. Wish the pan for the condensation was bigger, and they need to sale an insulation kit for the big air exhaust hose and window bracket.

Works well and dependable so far
This was a replacement for one we bought at Lowes. a Lightning power surge took that one out. This one works as well and was less expensive. We have learned to trust Black and Decker over the years.

    Nice
Haven't had real hot days so not sure how it will behave and have not tried the heater yet. BUt it cools down fairly nice. It just loud. (I think any of this kind will be loud for me) Easy set up. (Just pain to install/uninstall) window panel every time. (I don't leave it permanent), but other than that, I haven't had any issue so far (with limited amount of usage). However, I wish this came with "Current Temp" display.

It works well at keeping my entire first floor cool, but is very loud! Its my first AC so i dont have another to compare it to but I cant hear when someone knocks or rings the doorbell if the AC is on so thats a bit frustrating. Id rather be nice and cool than hear the door though lol

    Not as powerful as advertised
Does not cool as much as advertised. Did heavy research while deciding on a unit. I recommend you find a different one. This unit does not cool the small living room I put it in. It is big and bulky, and just gets in the way. I have the unit set to its lowest setting, which is 64 degrees, I also have the fan up all the way, and it is almost 80 degrees in the living room. About 90 degrees outside.

Puts out a lot of heat but can't maintain temp
much research on heat pump/ac units before i bought this unit about 3 weeks ago for my well insulated she-shed so i'll only review heat mode for now. had issues the first 24 hours; the unit's internal condensate tank filled within 24 hours inside the shed, which held a humidity level of just 60%. called b&d to ask the capacity of the water tank - no one knew. at the time, we vented thru a window. emptied the tank (this beast weighs a TON!) which probably held about 10-14 oz of water, installed a 5" louvered wall vent and tried again. with temps in the low 30s and high 20s at night (unusual for southern va), at least the unit kept the inside of the shed above freezing, but the temp was at least 12 degrees lower than the thermostat. humidity inside the shed was anywhere from 40% to 58% and the tank never held more than a tablespoon or so each day i checked. for now, we've just had the unit on a framed stand about 4" tall, which allows the tank to drain into a pan on the floor (haven't decided how to permanently drain yet. i give this unit (so far) a solid 10 on the amount of heat it produces. it's very warm (especially for a heat pump), plenty of air, and since it's so heavy, relatively stable (although the vibrations knocked the remote off the top). the main issue at the moment, is the condensate tank. i wouldn't want the unit to stop in the middle of the night because the tank is full, so i have to go outside and check it constantly. if it had wifi, i'd know right away to empty the tank. for the potential problems having no heat during the night, i give the unit only 2 out 10 for reliability. overall, i'm glad i bought the unit - for now. it provides more heat than a radiator, has really good air flow, easy enuf to install, and if i needed to use it in my home where i can monitor it at all times, i'd probably love it. venting through the wall was a pain, but much better than venting through a window.
