This is a very solid combo! The price point is awesome! My nephew and I have both fished with this combo and enjoyed running jerk bait and top water frogs on it! We even used it with some shiners at a pond near the house. Sensitive to light bites and hook sets were always easy and effective! It is a great combo in multiple scenarios!

Pole good, reel garbage
The casting is horrible, my gen ike spin casts further. I think there is something wrong with this reel.

    Amazing right out of the box!!
    Purchased this last month, between myself and my son we have caught some nice fish! The brake and drag settings are so easy to use, no more backlash! The rod has great sensitivity which directly leads to more fish!!

    This a fantastic combo for any angler and would highly recommend if you are looking for anything in this price range. Excellent value. Pre-spool with line. Rod action is great for a variety of fishing applications/techniques. Reel was super smooth once dialed in and easy to adjust. Fish with confidence!

    Well appointed combo that works extremely well!
    The GEN IKE baitcasting combo comes with a 6'6” medium action rod with a 8-15lb line rating and 1/4 to 5/8 lure recommendation. The reel has 5 bearings, a 6.4:1 gear ratio, and a comfortable swept handle and drag star. The rod's reel hood completely covers the reel seat threads, which makes a comfortable handle to hold onto. Has a very handy hook keeper as well. I used this combo to throw a light 1/4 underspin, and it handled the task with ease.

    First rod my son reaches for in the boat
    I purchased this rod/reel combination for my son who is 12 and just starting to use baitcast reels, and fish tournaments with me. With the rod being 6-6 it is easier for him to handle than longer rods, it has a good medium parabolic action ( the combo has been lights out for throwing jerkbaits and sinkos) comfortable in the hand, and is a well balanced. the reel is another STRONG representation of Abu Garcia building the best in the industry. Very Happy with the purchase. Great value for your investment.

    Excellent combo for the price! The rod and the reel are great quality and fish really well. The rod is sensitive and the reel cast really smooth. This comes already lined up with mono, so it is ready to start fishing right as you buy it. Great for beginning anglers and also anglers looking for a quality combo for a great price point.

    To good to be true!!
    I bought the reel because my backup combo broke when one of my buddies stepped on it in my boat. Needless to say this rod was going to be a "temporary" fix because i had a tournament with my son the same weekend. Highly recommend perfect rod for the price.

    Great beginner rod!
    We purchased this for our son's girlfriend for Christmas. I was concerned at the price point it might be less sensitive than we'd like. Very FAST shipping - it just arrived today. Pleasantly surprised at how nice it is. The reel seems to be a Black Max with purple touches. Very nice for the price. It even came spooled with mono.
