Peanut Oil...The Tastiest of All.
This is absolutely AMAZING Peanut Oil...and the price is UNBELIEVABLY LOW. Buy Peanut Oil in a grocery store and a TINY 8 oz. bottle cost between $6.99 and $8.99 This is an ABSOLUTE STEAL...and if you kids have never fried fish, shrimp, chicken, meatballs, liver, onion rings, potato slices, floured tomato slices, battered eggplant slices, I could go on forever, but, if you have not ever fried any of these thing in Peanut Oil, you have NO IDEA...what you're missing...you will never buy any other kind of cooking oil again.

TOO TOO LARGE CONTAINER TO LIFT OR TO POUR OUT OF!
This box of LouAna peanut oil contains one huge plastic 3 gallon container. I was under the impression the box contained 3 separate one gallon containers. There is no way at 77 years old that I can pour from this container. I can barely lift it. So far I picked it up at the Post Office, then lifted it out of my car at home, then opened the outer Just Deals Store box only to discover it was one 3 gallon size plastic container. So I lifted it again back into the car. I drove 160 miles to return it to my nearest Walmart. I lifted it into a grocery cart and another person had to held me lift the cart up a curb into the store. I lifted it up onto the counter at the service desk AND was refused a refund. It was UNOPENED and my receipt was on line. So I loaded it back into the cart and then unloaded into my car. I drove home and unloaded it to the floor of my garage, where my pictures were taken. I still have my original problem...ONE 3 GALLON CONTAINER OF PEANUT OIL which I cannot POUR out of. I have now lifted this box of peanut oil eight (8) times, driven over 300 miles to return it, and still have not resolved my problem. Some would say I am foolish but the truth is I am determined and I am not finished yet. I would love suggestions.

I highly recommend this product for any type of deep frying. It doesn't get any better than this!

All edible products should have a year expiration

Verified purchase

What I didn't like is the six month expiration date. I'm very surprised that it didn't have at least a year exp. date. I would not have purchased this in store with a 6 month exp. date!!!!!!!! Nor will I ever order this oil online again because u can't trust that it will serve the purpose. However, I think this oil is excellent for frying turkey

Peanut oil - Best for turkey frying

Verified purchase

LouAna is a brand that has been around for a bit. Peanut oil, to me, yields the best results in turkey frying because of the high smoking point, it doesn't break down so quickly, and it has a mild flavor that does not battle with the taste of your food. Besides, I find that it gives a nicer browning to the bird. We have used lower priced oils like corn or canola or soybean or a combination of any of the 3 - and the results were ok but they didn't give us the same results as when we use pure peanut oil. Honestly this price is not much of a savings from what we usually pay locally at Costco or BJs but we are not near a Just Deals Store so with all the other things I purchased, it made sense to buy it here online.

1. No, it does not have to refrigerated But it is very important to drain oil thru a fine strainer and store it in an Airtight container. Good for about 8-12 uses.

1. The shelf life of vegetable oils (the peanut is a vegetable) is pretty good. If you properly care for the oil. a year should present little problem. Proper care would be keeping it cool (an air-conditioned room is nice) and dark (the cardboard box helps.) I'd recommend keeping the jug closed, as much as possible, and filling a smaller oil bottle for use in the kitchen, as needed. Improper care would be stoiwing it in a small closet. overheated by a water heater. Don't get too worried about it. A century ago, people had to keep lard and butter in the icebox because it would turn rancid. In the average home, though, you can leave the butter dish on the dining table between meals, even if you only eat one stick of butter every two weeks.

2. Vegetable oils don't like light and heat, but peanut oil is more stable than most. I fill smaller bottles for convenience and stash the box outside the kitchen where space is less an issue. If you keep it 75F or less, even lesser vegetable oils should keep for a year with no problem. Keep it in a cool garage, even better. If you fry a turkey in the oil, and put it back in the bottle, or even worse, store it open to the air, that's a different matter, The fat in the turkey will render, and the turkey fat may turn rancid in that amount of time. You need to use that oil up. To begin Lent, the Amish use up all the fat and oil in the house on Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras day) by making fasnachts (doughnuts)! You can make a LOT of donuts with three gallons of oil - and make a lot of friends at the same time. I'd like to be your friend, if you're making hot doughnuts!

1. The 3 gallon container with box weighs about 24 Pounds.

2. The density of peanut oil is 91-92% that of water. That means the oil itself would weigh 22,7-23 pounds. Manufacturers typically slightly overfill, rather than accidentally cheating a customer, so you probably get 23 pounds, possibly 23.1 pounds.
